Today we celebrate Juneteenth as the day it was meant to be; a NATIONAL holiday to honor the emancipation of slaves in the United States. Today we celebrate freedom. We celebrate the tenacity of Ms. Opal Lee, now lovingly donned as the, "The Grandmother of Juneteenth!"
Juneteenth became a federal holiday yesterday, when it was signed into law by President Biden. After a year of such heartache and racial injustice, this feels healing.
